High End Consultation: Huge Shops Logo Development

Timeline: 2 weeks

Overview
As a freelance opportunity, I was responsible for developing a logo for a cannabis dispensary, Huge Shops. At this time there was a flurry of dispensaries vetting the government for licences, so the timeline was tight. I worked to visualize  the brand and modern cafe feeling  they wanted. They wanted a more typographic logo that would easily convey that they were a cannabis dispensary.

Process
I went through their market research into their competitors branding, all while doing my own visual exploration into high-end  cafe logos. Working with these parameters I developed a  few concepts with variations, starting by getting ideas out onto paper. This helps me  not commit to any one idea at this stage, as I am a strong believer of not being precious with my ideation process.

I carried these ideas to Illustrator and presented what I had to the client and I explored further into the topographic direction. Leaning more towards clear but ‘handwritten’ typefaces, manually tweaking fats and thins of letters to get the feeling I wanted. I opted to not integrate  the cannabis aspect into the type itself, this created a cleaner, more “indie coffee” shop vibe.

Conclusion
The end product was a logo developed with versatility in mind, used for packaging, signage, and stationary.
